Parenting Children That Don't Exist

I decided to a vlog instead of a blog for this month's topic of Gifted Parenting. I wanted to take my time with this subject and share my heart in discussing my experience of parenting what I call minority cubed children (gifted, homeschooled, African American). While the video is a bit on the long side, I hope you grab a cup of tea and view!

Feel free to share your heart and comment.

Sincerely,

Dr. J

  1. Oh wow, Doresa! My jaw dropped on two points: 1. No African-American gifted children? Really? This makes me want to scream!
    2. The daycare saying your 9 month old child had aggressive, violent behavior? We had a very similar event. My youngest son's daycare said my son, at 3 years old, was purposefully and maliciously relaying huge, elaborate stories during lesson time with the sole intent of distracting his classmates away from the teacher and on to himself. Just as with your son, they never saw it as bright, advanced behavior. Nope, it was malicious behavior. LOVE your videos, Doresa!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words. I think the reason I wanted to tell our story was to let people know these sort of things are happening and is probably at least one reason we don't see a lot of minority involvement from certain racial groups in gifted programs/organizations. Thanks for your support!
